Clarinda City Council discusses rezoning an Ag District

The Clarinda City Council meeting was held in regular session last week.

Items discussed were capital projects planning a workshop and a proposal to change A1 Ag District to an I2 Heavy Industrial District. Clarinda City Manager, Gary McClarnon says a public hearing was held in regards to the proposal for changing the district.

"We did have a public hearing for a proposal to change an Ag District to a heavy industrial district.  Currently we do have about 87 acres of farm ground.  We do have a potential manufacturer that might want to buy that land, but they won't buy it unless we rezone it."

McClarnon adds there was also a discussion on the Capital Projects Planning Workshop.

"This is the time of year that I sit down with the Council and we look at current projects going on for capital items.  Then we look at another five years beyond that to look at how we want to complete capital projects in the future."

The next regular scheduled Clarinda City Council meeting takes place on Wednesday, November 13th at 5:00 p.m.
